Book – “Look About You”

Look About You2003 Book of the Year Finalist Great Lakes Booksellers Association.

Written by Erin Anderson with 18 paintings by Mary Fuscaldo

The fine quality coffee table book, Look About You, A Magical Childhood in Northern Michigan’s Wild Places is the story of a young girl’s explorations with her father to special places steeped in magic. Northern Michigan is one of few remaining precious wild places and it is no wonder that it is one of only 8 places in the world reported to be populated with the most magical creatures of all, faeries. Thus, when a father wishes to teach his daughter the importance of appreciating and protecting these sacred places, he turns to these mystical creatures to light the way. As his daughter grows into a young woman, she takes the lessons of her playful, eye-opening rambles through this wild country and turns them into a deep and abiding understanding of the land and the importance of its preservation.

The collaboration between the artist and the author has produced a book of rare beauty. Hidden in each pastel painting of actual locations in Northern Michigan are faeries. Sometimes they are just an essence of their having been there, daring you to find them. Other times they are obvious in their appearance.

The Land Conservancies of Northern Michigan are supporting the book and a portion of every sale will be donated to them for their on-going protection of this beautiful land.

Some of the original paintings are available for purchase.

Also available are limited edition giclee reproductions of the paintings. They are signed and numbered in editions of only 100 prints and are printed in the original size of the paintings, 11″ X 14″ on 100% rag paper with archival inks.
